Barwon Heads Village Park – AKA The Pirate Park

Set sail to the Barwon Heads Village Park , AKA the Pirate Park, aptly nicknamed due to the two wooden pirate ships docked within the park.  This playground delivers an absolute adventure.  Along with the ships there is a double flying fox, spiderweb climbing structure, swings, slides, climbing wall, swinging see-saw, bouncers, saucer swing, spinners, rocking hammock and all this is situated on a bed of soft sand.  You also have BBQs, picnic tables, shaded areas, a skate park and walking/biking tracks circling the park.

Go on, have yarrr-self a brilliant play at the Pirate Park.

Frank Ellis Reserve Park, Barwon Heads

Parked (pun intended) on the Barwon River Estuary is the Frank Ellis Reserve Park.  With the river beach and bridges as a backdrop, this playground is iconic to Barwon Heads, loved by locals and adored by visitors.  A satisfyingly full play day can be spent at this reserve, switching between a splash in the water and a play at the park.  The park is equipped with all the fun stuff; rope climbing frame, saucer swing, side by side slides, pirate ship, monkey bars, balancing chain, swings, flying fox, bobbing boat and so much more.  Plus the nearby river beach (and by nearby we mean mere steps away) is renowned for its calmness.

This Barwon Heads playground makes for a fabulously family-friendly frolic.

Ocean Grove Park

Situated in the heart of Ocean Grove is a park run by the local community – the Ocean Grove Park.  Due to its community-cared-for status, this park does not have public toilets but some are only a hop, skip and jump away, as are an abundance of cafes.  This means you can happily sip on your latte while watching your kiddies climb the chained net, whiz down the steep slide, excavate with the digger, fly on the swings, rock the boat, balance on the beams and swivel on the spinners.  There is also a basketball ring, fitness equipment and undercover BBQ facilities.

This Ocean Grove playground shows what is possible when a community comes together for the love of fun.

Kingston Park, Ocean Grove

Fresh from an epic rebuild is the colossal Kingston Park.  Arranged around a soaring tower which plunges by way of twisting and winding slides, this park has been designed to have areas of both passive and active play.  The equipment is super modern and encourages imaginative play with rolling hills, swings, a circling scooter track, ropes, monkey bars, nest swing, slides, tower, sandpit, musical instrument, book exchange and that’s not even all of it. Wowsers!  Experience this very new, very modern and very fun Ocean Grove playground.
